Love Tove is a zine celebrating the life and work of Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomins, painter, writer, illustrator and all-around icon and inspiration.
Featuring essays, creative non-fiction, art and comics on subjects ranging from Tove Jansson's relationship to water, reflections on grief and black metal music, the inspiration for a video game, understanding one's queer identity and many more. Covering both Jansson's Moomin books and comics, as well as her later writing for adults, this zine showcases the incredible influence Jansson had and serves as an introduction to her amazing body of work.

ABOUT THE EDITOR
Elizabeth Lovatt is a long time Jansson fan having been introduced to
The Moomins through her mum at a young age, but it was Jansson's fiction that Elizabeth fell in love with, rediscovering her with the launch of the imprint Sort of books.
She has written about her favourite Jansson book Fair Play for Dear Damsel and the inspiration she takes in Jansson's philosophy towards art and life.
In a professional capacity, Elizabeth has been working in Print Production
for over seven years and currently the Senior Production Controller for Bloomsbury Children's.
HOW TO SUBMIT
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Essays, creative non-fiction, life-writing, short-stories, poetry, flash-fiction, comics, illustrations, art, photography — we're open to ideas, so long as it's related in some way to Tove Jansson — we want it !
The maximum word count for all written pieces is 1500 words (this can be multiple pieces if you are submitting flash-fiction, but the total must not exceed 1500 words).
Please submit up to three poems, maximum of 5 pages of A4.
PHOTOGRAPHY, ART & ILLUSTRATIONS
Please submit up to 3 pieces along with a short description of the work. Artwork should be submitted as 300dpi TIFFs where possible.

SENDING YOUR SUBMISSION
Please email your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org along with:
Your name and type of submission (e.g. Photography, Essay etc.) in the subject line of the email.
Title of the piece(s) and approximate word count.
If submitting a written piece, please send your submission as a Word or Google Doc, if your submission is an artwork please send as a 300dpi TIFF or similar either as attachments or include a download link.
A 50-word max bio, including any social media links.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE AND WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR BACK?
31st December 2018. We aim to get back to everyone regarding their submission by the end of January 2019.
WHEN WILL THE ZINE BE PUBLISHED?
Spring 2019, We'll post an update once we have a firm date.
WILL CONTRIBUTORS BE PAID?
Sadly at the moment no, however, all contributors will receive a free copy and any profits from zine sales will be split equally between contributors. This is very much a passion project!
DO YOU ACCEPT PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED WORK?
Yes, that's fine! We only ask that if your work has been previously published before you let us know and confirm that you have permission to reprint the work in the zine.
DO YOU ACCEPT SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS?
Yes, of course! Again we would ask that you let us know if you are submitting to other places and to email us if your work is accepted elsewhere.
